Impose-X version 6 is available. What's
new?
This
unique Imposition combines the ability to do standard page based imposition and
CAD file based package work in a single program.
This stand-alone imposition product can be used for digital stripping of PDF,
EPS, Postscript, and TIFF files--including files output by page linked work flows such as Rampage. It includes highly comprehensive layout, imaging device, press and bindery controls and uses a light-table metaphor for creating any type of layout. With the added ability to import CAD generated die files in DDES2 format, this software is powerful solution for package printers. Custom clipping paths can be defined on every package in your layout.
You may duplicate, rotate, or mirror any die line and apply separate clipping
paths for each.

Impose-X
Manual Imposition
The user manipulates all impositions through the Layout Editor, whose operation
is similar to the process of manually stripping films onto a flat. Manual
imposition is often used for creating irregular or nested layouts, such as
packaging dies and sheet-wise combo runs.
Layout Editor
- Easy drag & drop positioning of pages
and marks
- Imposed-thumbnail preview from EPS file
- Page assignment via list, single burn, or
drag & drop
- Master plate set for placement of elements
that burn on all plates
- Instant backup plate creation
- Multiple document interface (MDI) for
viewing multiple jobs simultaneously
- Multi-level undo / redo
- Measuring tool for easy checking of gutter,
page, and layout sizes
- Easy drag & drop construction of step
& repeat layouts
- Guidelines allow for easy positioning
between common elements
- Snap functions for quick alignment to
existing pages
- Justify layout to center or any combination
of sheet edges
- Cut & paste between jobs
- Variable density takeoff screens
- Quickly transform burns from one type to
another
- Visual plate selection tool
Packaging Module
Based on the industry-standard IT8.6
Package/Label Die Cutter format. Once a die file has been imported, the file is
automatically converted to a standard manual layout. However, package geometry
is preserved and is displayed in place of the normal burn outline.

Module Features
- Visually browse dies and place them at any position in a layout
- Instantly snap image content to center or edge of die outline.
- Package review during import process
- Package geometry is displayed in layout
editor
- Print die outline on proof
- Print die outline on its own separation
- Elimination of undesirable DDES2 elements
(i.e.: comment tags, dimension marks, etc...)
- Clipping path produced from die outline
- All layout editor features included
- Import additional package outlines at any
time
- Ganged layout allows combination of book
and package work
- Images assigned to packages automatically
snap to your package outlines.
- Invert, grayscale, or apply gamma
correction to the preview image for easier positioning.
Book Pagination
Book Pagination provides automatic multiple
form layout. Multi-signature jobs are created by simply entering page size,
quantity, signature style and binding style. This makes Impose-X highly
productive for publishing, directory, book and magazine imposition work.

Module Features
- Build entire job by forms
- Build jobs with any combination of
different signatures
- Automatic repagination
- Fold templates allow specification of any
folder-based signature
- Fold editor & fold templates allow easy
reproduction of folding dummies
- Specify unique settings for each form
- Shingling and compensation
- Shingle globally, or by setting paper
caliper of individual forms
- High / low folio stitcher lip selection
Mark Templates
Mark templates are digital master mark sets.
Each form in an Impose-X job can have its own mark template, if
desired. A mark template contains built-in marks (marks that Impose-X knows
how to generate on the fly) and imported EPS marks. Imported marks are located
relative to anchor points on the sheet, and are therefore dynamically
repositioned depending on the current sheet size.
Module Features
- Dynamic slug lines
- Signature marks
- Page-relative trim & bleed marks
- Folder marks
- Automatic separation identification marks
- Sheet centers
- Side guides
- Import and EPS file into the Mark Library
Template Pagination
Template imposition is a quick method for
composing single form, symmetric layouts. Supports various binding styles and
provides controls for gutters, page count, form configuration, head direction
and multiple up imaging.
Module Features
- Quickly build a single, symmetric plate set
- Custom gutter sizing
- Reusable templates allow for impositions in
less than 10 seconds
- Multiple templates can be inserted into a
manual layout for easy combo-run creation
- Specify page/trim size
- Automatic backup plate
Output
- Automatic or manual tiling setup allows
instant re-purposing for different media sizes
- Output revisions allow for easy
identification of localized files (i.e.: book1.LosAngeles.ps)
- Map any color to any separation
- Force unwanted spot colors into process
separations
- Overprint control
- Scaling options are full size, shrink to
fit, scale to fit (shrink or grow), proportional or anamorphic
- Support for current and future devices
through use of plug-ins
Other Features
- Highly intuitive interface provides low
learning curve
- On-line user tutorial and documentation
- Custom wizards make job setup a snap
- Printouts include: job summary,
full-graphic layout, folding dummy, page list, and stack list and coordinate
list for step-and-repeat jobs
- Modular architecture allows for continual
expansion without system-wide upgrades
- Press templates for easy, last-minute press
changes
- Able to impose digital and mechanical data
